Cham Island Speedboat Ticket – Safety & Budget-Friendly
If you’re eyeing Cham Island for your next coastal escape, here’s something you’ll want to know: For just 500,000 VND (around 20 Us dollars), you can snag a seat on a high-speedboat that’ll zip you straight from Cửa Đại Port (Hoi An) to Cham Island, this little island gem recognized by UNESCO. That’s not a bad deal, honestly—especially considering how quick and convenient it is compared to the slower wooden boats, and trust me, the Cham Island speedboat saves your back and your patience.

Cham Islands Speedboat Tickets
So, what do you get for that price?
A round-trip, same-day ticket from Cửa Đại to Bãi Làng port and back. It’s smooth sailing most of the time, you’ll even catch a few flying fish mid-jump. But that 500,000 VND only covers the ride. It doesn’t include additional services like snorkeling, diving, or sea walking. If you’re planning to explore underwater, you’ll need to budget a bit more.
- Oh, and one-way fares are 300,000 VND, useful if you’re staying overnight or heading there with a tour group that brings you back separately.
Traveling with kids?
- Under 1 year old: Free (but yeah, bring that birth certificate, rules are rules).
- From 1 to 5 years old: 200,000 VND one way.
- Over 5? Adult price applies. No exceptions.
You went with a couple who had a 1-year-old, and you did get the discount, but you had to show proof at the check-in counter. Keep that in mind, especially if you’re not carrying Vietnamese ID or passport documents.
Speedboat Schedule (a bit flexible, so breathe easy)
- Summer: 08:00 and 09:00 – 09:30. am / 2:00 pm departures
- Low season: Usually around 08:30 am
- Winter: More limited. Boats only run when the island management approves (weather’s rough sometimes).
Most Cham Island tours 1 day leave between 09:00 and 9:45. But I’ve had a few mornings where we didn’t set off until 9:30 because the group wasn’t ready or the sea was a bit fussy.
If you’re renting your private speedboat, you’ve got some wiggle room, just try to head out before 11:00 am so you don’t waste the whole morning. The island’s best when you have time to walk around and not rush from spot to spot.
Renting a speedboat? Here’s the scoop
Let’s say you’re traveling with a group of friends or a company team (I once tagged along with a photography crew doing a shoot out there). Renting a whole speedboat makes sense in some cases.
Here’s the latest price list (as of this writing)
- 18-seat boat: 7.5 million VND
- 25-seat boat: 9.5 million VND
- 36-seat boat: 14.5 million VND
- 50-seat boat: 18.5 million VND
Note: the guest count differs for locals vs foreigners due to licensing limits; there’s a max cap. So, if your group has a mix, confirm how many are allowed per boat.
All rentals are return-same-day unless you pay an extra +50% overnight fee. I’ve done a 2-day island trip before, and honestly, the sunrise out there is worth the extra. But yeah, plan and tell them your full itinerary—don’t just assume you can hang around and get a ride back whenever.
Required info for booking
Standard procedure now: you’ll need to provide your full name, year of birth, address, and phone number. It’s the Cham Island Management Board’s requirement—nothing sketchy, just regulation stuff. They track entries for environmental reasons, too.

You book through this number, and the woman who answered was surprisingly chill. She even gave me advice on which pier had fewer tourists that day. So yeah, use it
Here’s what to keep in mind:
- Budget-friendly? Yes. 500,000 VND is fair for a fast, safe ride.
- Book early, especially on weekends or holidays. You almost missed my boat during the summer rush.
- Renting a private speedboat? Works well for big groups, and gives you more freedom.
- Always check the weather, Cham Island speedboats tour doesn’t run in bad conditions.
Call Us. Don’t just show up and hope.
Hope this helps someone skip the confusion you had the first time. Wouldn’t mind going back myself, Cham’s Island chill, the food’s decent (try the grilled sea urchin), and the water’s legit clear.
