Au Thuyen Cham Island
Au Thuyen Cham Island is located between Bai Lang Village and the Bai Ong area, created by people on the island to create a safe anchorage for boats everywhere when there is a storm. Coming here, visitors can see firsthand the calm ships on the water and can rent a speed boat or wooden boat to around the island. Also from here, fishermen set sail with the hope of a trip with fish and shrimp.
Au Thuyen Cham Island in the past used to be a vibrant trading port and a stopover for domestic and international merchant ships. The favorable position on the Silk Road on the sea plus the open-door policy of the Nguyen lords, enhanced the role of the Cu Lao Cham boat, contributing to a prosperous Hoi An port in history.
Au Thuyen Cham Island with an area of 2ha was reinforced and repaired in 2015 from the funding source (59 billion VND) of the East Sea – Islands Program. This is considered the most solid lock in Hoi An with a capacity of hundreds of ships with a capacity of less than 200 CV.
With infrastructure items invested, upgraded, and expanded for several years, Au Thuyen Cham Island not only meets the needs of mooring fishing boats of fishermen on the island but also a safe shelter for the fishing means in the Cu Lao Cham sea area.
Today, the Au Thuyen Cham Island is not only responsible for shielding ships from the ocean waves, serving as a support for fishermen’s spiritual beliefs before each trip, but also becoming a place Cham island tourism is interesting.
